Silvia Lerín
1975, Valencia, Spain
Silvia Lerín, a visual artist from Valencia (1975), focuses on creating paintings and installations that explore the physicality of materials through folds, cuts, and layering. Her work balances formal and conceptual elements, often combining painted fabrics, metals, and found objects into textured compositions inspired by personal experiences. A Fine Arts graduate from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Lerín has exhibited widely across Spain, the UK, Germany, and the US, with her work held in numerous public and private collections.
Her artistic process emphasizes a deep physical relationship with materials, using collage and assemblage to create pieces that evoke objects, places, or emotions she has encountered. The shadows, folds, and fissures in her work enrich the viewer’s experience, leading to new pathways of imagination. Titles of her works often hint at or explicitly reveal the intentions behind each piece. Throughout her career, she has received prestigious awards such as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Freelands Foundation Grant, and has participated in numerous international artist residencies.
