If we take a moment to think about the nature closest to us, we might talk about the trees on our streets, the potted plants on our balconies, the plastic flower vases on our tables, Hawaiian shirts, floral lingerie patterns, or wallpaper on the walls, etc. All of this is a substitute for what was once a natural mantle that covered our current cities.
Ephemeral Gardens seeks to give a voice to plant nature, which was banished from our cities and now timidly peeks through the gaps in sidewalks, the cracks in walls, and the crevices between bricks, either as a song to life or a subtle threat, from the forgotten corners of our cities.
