Concha Ros

1967, Valencia, Spain

Artist and cultural manager/producer.
Ph.D. in Fine Arts and Master’s in Museology from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Former adjunct professor in the university’s Drawing Department.

As a visual artist, Concha Ros develops her artistic research around female identity. Recently—coinciding with the pandemic—she has incorporated the theme of nature, engaging with it in her recent works. From the Self-Made Woman and Les Dones series (included in collections such as the Contemporary Art Collection of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ajuntament de València), where the focus was introspective, her latest works, under the series Me in Nature, open a dialogue with the natural environment, foregrounding the question of ecofeminism—a philosophy that uniquely combines ecological activism with equality among humans and non-humans. Perhaps it is the only alternative to the escalating harm being inflicted on the planet.

She has also been a finalist in numerous competitions and awards, and her work is included in national and international collections.
